ECOTOPIA - Sustainability boarding game

~ Ecotopia The Sustainability Board Game ~
Learn about Recycling and Sustainable cities in an interactive way

What is it about?
Ecotopia is an educational card game that promotes sustainability by focusing on recycling rules for sustainable and green city spaces, alongside tips for green living.
Tailored for young people aged 13-19, but not only, the game encourages environmentally conscious behavior by integrating these sustainability practices into fun and competitive gameplay.

Who designed it?
Developed collaboratively by teams from Greece (Eventures) and Bulgaria (Get Involved), Ecotopia is powered by the Erasmus+ Programme. The goal is not only to raise awareness but also to inspire tangible action for a greener future. To make the game accessible to a wider audience, it's being developed in Bulgarian, Greek, and English.

Game Objective
Ecotopia helps players think critically about sustainability and waste management while engaging in friendly competition.
The game introduces categories like recycling glass, plastics, paper, and aluminum, along with general waste and organic waste, helping players understand where tricky trash goes.
The main goal is simple: be the first player to eliminate all your cards by placing trash cards in the appropriate recycling bins or strategically using special wild cards.
As players work through various types of tricky trash, they learn how to handle each item, turning everyday recycling confusion into an interactive learning experience.

Here are OTHER awesome ways to play with your Ecotopia cards beyond the standard game!

♻️ Recycling Quiz - Use the trash cards to create a Quiz about recycling.

♻️  Ecotopia Sorting Bingo - Create Bingo cards with categories like Paper, Glass, Plastic, Aluminum, Organic Waste in each square. Draw trash cards and if they match a category on the player's Bingo card, they mark it.

♻️ Recycling Storytelling - Ask students or family members to choose a card from the deck and prepare a short presentation on the material. They should explain in a creative way why and how that item is recyclable, and how it benefits or harms the environment if not recycled.

♻️ Sustainable Habits Challenge - Create a list of sustainability challenges for students or family members to do every week.  (e.g., "Recycle all plastic bottles for the week," "Compost organic waste," etc.).

♻️  Recycling Detective - Identify and track recyclable items around the home or classroom according to the different Bin categories. The player who identifies the most recyclable items in a set time, using the correct sorting process, wins the round.

♻️ Ecotopia Sorting Race - Spread the trash cards on the floor or a table and ask students or family members to sort the cards into the correct recycling categories as quickly as possible.
